【摘要】:ThistestmethodcoversaprocedureforestablishingPressureRatingforPVCschedule40and80socket-typefittingsbyevaluatingfittingfailuretestdataderivedbytestingwater-filledassembliesofpipeandfittings.Unlessthedataapproximatesastraightline,whencalculatedusinglog-logcoordinates,itisnotpossibletoassignapressureratingtothatproductorsampleofproduct.Datathatexhibithighscatter,oradownwardcurve,duetolowlongtermdata,willgivelowextrapolatedvaluesthataremoreconservativewhencalculatedusinglog-logco-ordinates.Inaddition,thisdownwardcurvewillshowashigherscatter,andwherethelowerconfidencelevellimitsarenotmetthedatashallbeclassifiedasunsuitable.(SeeNote1)Note1ThistestmethodissimilartothatusedinTestMethodD2837,whichhasbeenusedforabout30yearstoestablishtheHDSofplasticpipematerialsandisthebasisforallpressureratingsassignedtoplasticpipes.Theproductscoveredbythistestmethodareschedule40or80moldedPVCfittingsthatconformtoSpecificationsD2466orD2467.Thepressureratingsdevelopedusingthistestmethodappliesonlytofittingsidenticaltotheonesthatweretested.Somevariablesthatwillaffectthepressureratingare-pipesize,pattern,molddesign,material,andmoldingconditions.Thevaluesininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.ThetestingprocedureusedtoobtainthefittingfailuredatashallbeasdescribedinthosesectionsofTestMethodD1598,thatarereferencedinSectionofthistestmethod.Theproductscoveredbythistestmethodareintendedforuseinthedistributionofpressurizedliquidsat73?F.Whenappropriate,thedesignengineermustconsidertheeffectsofelevatedtemperatureandchemicalcompatibilityoftheliquidwiththefittingmaterialandapplynecessarydesignfactors.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicationofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note2Pressurized(compressed)airorothercompressedgasescontainlargeamountsofstoredenergywhichpresentserioussafetyhazardsshouldasystemfailforanyreason.
